Todah/Thank You Abba For The Tests...
Shalom Daughters of Tzyon,
Let us all give our thanks and praises to YAHWAH…for He is merciful and His love is everlasting…HaleluYAH!!!
Some time ago, I gave my children a surprise test on their school work, they were quite excited because they had been telling me all that week that they are ready and how they will pass the test.
“Alright then” I replied. So now it‘s the day of the test…“Quess what...we're having a test today...I told them.” Their eyes all bright and shining…they said “okay morah/okay teacher”…(morah is the female way to say teacher…moreh is the male version).
Anyhu…we settled down at the kitchen table and I began to give them the guidelines and they proceeded with the test. One question after another was met with a pondering look on their faces…as they looked in my eyes for any type of assistance, which none was given.
After the test was over…they saw where they were not as prepared as they thought they were. They did not prepare as adequately as they had assumed.
The test I gave made them feel quite uncomfortable. They were sad that they weren’t ready, especially my baht/daughter. My intent was certainly not to hurt their feelings, but to reveal the weak areas of their study so they could tighten the gaps and be ready for the real test.
Just as I tested my children, YAHWAH tests me. He often puts me in uncomfortable positions to uncover weak areas. YAHWAH doesn’t point out my weakness to take advantage of me. Instead, His testing is to reveal areas that need work, so I will be strong enough to persevere and eventually succeed in what He’s called me to do.
YAHWAH uses all kinds of life situations to test us. Testing can take the form of difficult people in our lives, times of waiting, or a challenge to step outside our comfort zone to be obedient. Will we avoid the situation? Will we suffer through it and quit because it’s too hard? Or will we persevere and overcome? I know that this is hitting home with some of you today…not just myself.
We might think YAHWAH gets frustrated with us when we “fail” a test. I sometimes wonder if Abba wants to give up on me when I repeat the same mistakes. But just because my yeledeem didn’t know the answers on our mini-quiz didn’t mean I would give up on them. Just the opposite! I wanted them to succeed and was willing to give them test after test to make sure they were ready.
YAHWAH’s testing can be to prepare us for something more important, and often more difficult. He wants to see if we can sustain the pressure in preparation for something big (maybe like what is about to happen in Amerika…have you all been watching the news lately?)
So, the next time Ahbeenu calls you up for a pop-quiz, consider His desire to see you succeed. If a weakness is revealed, thank Him for helping you move to the next level by strengthening you.
Loving and Compassionate Abba YAH,
Todah/thank you for caring enough about my character and life to test me. Help me to see Your testing as a sign of Your love, and to be thankful for it. I pray for strength through Your Ruakh/Spirit to walk in obedience and persevere.
I ask this in the Precious Name of Yahoshua, The Lamb.
HaleluYAH! Todah YAH! Ahmayn!
A Few Steps That May Help:
Identify one difficult situation in your life. Determine to see it as a test of your faith. Ask YAHWAH for strength to persevere.
Our Homework Assignment:
Read Debarym/Deuteronomy 8:1-5. What testing did YAHWAH put upon our ancestors?
According to the Scripture, what was Abba’s purpose for this testing?
What life situations have you recently experienced that might have been a time of testing?
Can you see YAHWAH’s purpose in this testing?
Was a personal weakness revealed? If so, how do you think YAHWAH wants you to address this weakness?
Love in Messiah...
